Week 5 (07-09 Oct. 2016)

Here we are after the 5th of 8 weekends.  It included Local’s Night on Friday, marked the last weekend for the New Mainflösser Band from Germany, and the finals of the unique Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest Queen contest.  As you may or may not know, the Queen wins that honor by carrying the highest number of steins filled with water (because we sure don’t want to waste beer).  Each stein filled with water weighs 5 lbs..  This years Queen is Brandie Zapotosky and she ended up carrying 15 steins (I’ll leave the math to you).

Being Local’s Night and the last weekend for the New Mainflösser Band, I recorded several videos that I enjoyed.  If you’d rather just view the pictures, feel free to skip ahead,

I’ll start with one showing two of the band members competing in log sawing on Locals Night (they didn’t win).

Now here are two that first show our son, Matt, and Josh competing in Men’s log sawing (they won) and then Matt with Noelle in Hansel and Gretel lag sawing on the outside stage (they also won).

Here’s a favorite of many, the New Mainflösser Band performing the Too Fat Polka with Hans joining the fun.

Now here’s an Ein Prosit by the band.

And how about a yodeling sample (we all thought she ought to have sung more often).

And, finally, for their last number at this year’s Oktoberfest, the band performed a song about their homeland.  Enjoy!

Now lets move on to the pictures.  Just select one you’d like to start with and then use the arrows at the bottom left (or your keyboard arrow keys) to maneuver back and forth or just select the SlideShow option at the bottom right to view them that way.  There are more pictures than I thought there would be this week because it did get kind of busy and I ended up helping guests more than usual.
