Week 6.2 - KTLA Videos (18 Oct. 2016)

This "week" we have a special treat for you and I've decided to create a separate page just for the videos.  We were invited to the KTLA (TV5) studios in Los Angeles to promote the Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest on their highly rated Morning News show.  I did record the entire four (4) hours of shows on my home DVR and have finally completed the conversions and uploaded them to YouTube and you can view them below.

I know many of you have probably already viewed some of the happenings on at least Big Bear Oktoberfest’s Facebook page but I’m probably the last person in the world who is not a Facebook member so I’m not sure what you’ve seen.  Therefore, I’m going to post videos I converted for every time they mentioned Big Bear, Polkas, Oktoberfest, etc. and you can choose which you want to view.

[For anyone interested in the details of the process in the Macintosh world, the show was aired in HD but my DVD Recorder is only SD.  So, after recording the clips from the DVR to a DVD, I used a program named "VidConvert" to extract the video from the DVD, another program called "MPEG Streamclip" to convert that QuickTime video output to HD (1280x720) and then QuickTime to trim the clip and upload it to YouTube.  Maybe now you'll understand why it took a while to get it done.]

1)  First I’ll start with a short band and dancing tease (0:17).

2)  Next, The anchors discuss Jessica’s history with Polka, Mark’s favorite Oktoberfest food, and a short weather forecast and traffic report (1:59).

3)  Next we have a weather forecast and a mention of weather for Big Bear (1:41).

4)  Then there was a tease that was supposed to feature the D’Oberlander dancers but technical difficulties caused it to be somewhat short (0:29).

5)  Fifth is a tease proclaiming Ein Prosit (0:14).

6)  Getting closer.  Here’s the final tease showing our Oktoberfest Queen, Brandie, demonstrating stein carrying and a quick look at the table before our upcoming main segment (0:38).

7)  And, finally, at 09:42 am, here was our almost five (5) minute segment (4:27).

8)  And for the final clip, here are the anchors closing out the show and we catch a brief look of them eating some of the Oktoberfest food we brought with us for the event (1:15).

Now you can go back and watch the behind-the-scenes pictures and maybe you can see how the whole day was put together.  Hint:  It involves a lot of standing around.  Enjoy!
