This time KTLA (TV5) brought a remote crew from Hollywood to Big Bear to promote the Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest on their highly rated Morning News show. I did record the entire six (6) hours of shows on my home DVR to be sure I didn’t miss anything and have finally(!) completed the conversions and uploaded them to YouTube for your viewing pleasure. If you haven’t viewed the pictures and video I recorded of the behind-the-scenes effort yet, you may want to look at those first so it sets the scene for you. Just follow this link.
I’m assuming many of you have probably already viewed some of the happenings on at least Big Bear Lake’s Oktoberfest Facebook page but I’m probably the last person in the world who is not a Facebook member so I’m not sure what you’ve seen. Therefore, I’m going to post videos I converted for every time they mentioned Big Bear, Polkas, Oktoberfest, etc. and you can choose which you want to view.
1) First I’ll start with a short tease at 6:59am (0:15).
2) Next Monica gets a chance to show the German foods that are available at Oktoberfest (3:24).
3) Now we have another short tease including the famous Chicken Dance (0:13).
4) Here’s what KTLA refers to as their "8:38 Stretch” (0:32).
5) This segment demonstrates several of the contests held at Oktoberfest. The clip also starts off with brief video from the start of the big festival in München the previous day (4:36).
6) Hans gets to share his long time toast (2:52).
7) And, our last tease shows one of the fun things in the kid’s zone (0:32).
8) And our final clip finishes off the show with a look at the kid’s fun zone (3:43).
I hope you enjoyed watching the broadcast video. There’s a lot of things that go on behind the scenes to pull it off. In about 3 hours of time only about 17 minutes made it on air. Hint: It also involves a lot of standing around.
