Week 5 (04-06 Oct. 2019)

Here we are at the 5th of 9 weekends.  It included Local’s Night on Friday, marked the last weekend for the Frankenrebellon from Germany, and the finals of the unique Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest Queen contest.  As you may or may not know, the Queen wins that honor by carrying the highest number of steins filled with water (because we sure don’t want to waste beer).  Each stein filled with water weighs 5 lbs..  This years Queen, McKenzie Tardibuono, ended up successfully carrying 15 steins with the least amount of spillage (I’ll leave the math to figure the total weight to you).  Here’s a picture of the winner and her trophy.

Before more pictures, let’s do a couple videos.  This first one was from Friday (Locals Night) where I caught Sharon teaching a table of guests how to do Table Polka so they can avoid getting up (1:12).

Next, Monica introduces the members of the band (0:46).

Now it’s time to watch the Cripple Creek Cloggers clogging to The Beer Barrel Polka (1:55).

Now it’s time for the Queen Contest.  First is Kim Krause with her successful carry of 15 water-filled steins.  She ended up in second place. (0:24).

And here’s the winning carry by McKenzie Tardibuono who also carried 15 steins but won by virtue of spilling less water on her successful carry (0:09).

Lastly, Hans had joined us this weekend and the band talked him into joining them late Sunday afternoon.  I’m not sure of the name of the song but he sure seemed to have a good time (4:06).

Now lets move on to the pictures.  Just select one you’d like to start with and then use the arrows at the bottom left (or your keyboard arrow keys) to maneuver back and forth or just select the SlideShow option at the bottom right to view them that way.  There may be a couple more than usual since this weekend was 3 days.
